devotee travel adventures around town, across the nation or in far-flung lands.
If you travel via armchair into the past, present, or future through movies and
books, pursue your dreams, the Fair is the place to be. Socialize,
gather dependable information – concerning, and of interest to –
mature adults and their families. Fair visitors are informed, assisted, and
entertained at more than
135 cleverly
decorated and colorful booths based on the
“RAILS, SAILS
& OTHER TALES” theme.
Fair booths
present information of interest and concern to older adults, including:
housing, legal issues, volunteer opportunities,
retirement
planning, voting, social security, medication, Medicare, physical therapies,
safety and medical equipment, travel, health related issues, home care,
hospitals, nutrition, education, physical fitness, hospices, health testing,
cultural activities, nutrition, finance, real estate, clubs,
transportation, senior support programs of all kinds, and more.
Exhibitors also
present a variety of hands-on activity centers, flu shots, numerous free
health screenings, housing resource information, legal knowledge,
travel, volunteer and educational opportunities.
2013 booth
highlights include quilting demonstrations and a colorful ever changing Quilt
Show, Computer and Camera Clinics, a Photography Show, Historic Marin
presented by the Northwestern Pacific RR Historical Society, The latest RR
information courtesy of SMART, other transportation options around town and
across the world, medication recycling and disposal, fitness consultations and
classes, one-on-one art demonstrations and Show, Therapy
Critters, and many other delightful experiences.
Look for an
expanded Wellness Headquarters, Computer Lessons, Flu Shots, Spinal
Screenings, professional Massage therapy, Chiropractic Evaluations, a variety
of Health Evaluations, Blood Pressure checks and other health screenings,
food tasting, prize drawings, a Digital Camera
Clinic and Show, and more.
Entertainment is an all day affair at
"RAILS,
SAILS & OTHER TALES!"
From the
morning presentation of Historic Marin County Film to ballroom dancing with the
Starduster Orchestra, and a line-up of performing artists, including Lovin’
Harmony, selected for your enjoyment on the Main Stage, the day is lively and
thoroughly enjoyable. Strolling entertainers, Wellness Bingo, Prizes, awards,
and entertainment go on all day throughout the Fair. KRON TV and KCBS Radio
broadcaster Jan Wahl emcees the Main Stage. Prizes will be awarded to many
lucky Fair goers by emcee Jan Wahl.
